Velvit Oil and Other Fine Velvit Products

Back  in 1990 I was first introduced to the line of Velvit products when I started using Chemguard in the sawmill to prevent mold on wood. When we decided to build our house we  investigated some of the other Velvit Products. The first of these was Velvit Oil. I was not yet a woodworker so we had a friend make a sample wood "rug" to place in front of the door going into our house. It was subjected to sand, mud, water and the occasional spill of coffee for over a year. We decided that Velvit Oil is what we wanted to use on the floors in the new house. It is not a surface finish that can accumulate scratches. When you walk on the floors with bare feet or in socks, the wood feels warm and friendly. Velvit Oil is easy to repair. Just clean the floor and re-apply. We used 23 different woods in our house and all are finished with Velvit Oil.

As the house construction progressed we decided to investigate the use of Velvit Cabin and Deck Finish. It became our finish of choice to use on the Cypress siding I cut for the house. Velvit Products worked with us to formulate just the color we wanted. I was so impressed with the quality of the products I decided to become a distributor. I am featuring the products I have sold the most of and the ones I have personally used. My experience with using Velvit Oil on floors is extensive as is my experience with using it on all other interior wood.  I have developed  my own technique for using Aqua Shield on light colored wood when I wanted to retain the natural color of the wood..

I sell Velvit Oil and the other fine Velvit Products through my business, LaGrange Resources.

I have used Velvit Oil on floors, flat woodworking projects, and on my woodturnings. It comes in Natural as well as many colors. The Natural has an amber color which enhances the appearance highly figured woods as well as those of average figure. It can be applied with a brush or cloth. Velvit Oil penetrates into the wood quickly, depending upon the type of wood. The more dense the wood, the less penetration. It is easy to apply and designed so that any that is left on the surface of the wood project after being allowed to penetrate, should be removed with a cloth. The application and removal process for floors is slightly different. These instructions can be found here.

Coverage- 250 sq.ft. for the first coat    300-350 sq.ft. for the second coat. Coverage depends upon type of wood being finished. Additional information.

I use Velvit Lemon Oil to create a dust rag for the woodwork in my house. I also use it to refresh the look of the coffee bar in our store Something Different. It is made from pure natural ingredients. It is a non-aerosol product and friendly to the environment. Velvit Lemon Oil is non-combustible.

Velvit Lemon Oil does not contain linseed oil, beeswax. silicones or solvents. Because of this it will not build up as some products.
